Private Home: Organic Farm Ocean & Sunset Views | House in Kailua-Kona
3 Bedroom House in Honalo, Kailua-Kona
Our hosted Kona coffee plantation farmhouse is the perfect place to stay for a private home experience surrounded by lush tropical foliage, coffee and macadamia nut trees, and wildlife. Relax in the bright and spacious living and dining rooms styled with an eclectic mix of bauhaus, mid-century, and 1970s era furnishings while gazing at sweeping ocean views and breathtaking sunsets. Experience private farm-style living only 25 minutes south of the airport and 15 minutes south of Kailua-Kona. The three bedroom, two bathroom, light-filled and breezy house has a well equipped kitchen, high speed wifi, and a spacious open floor plan living/dining room, and a large covered ocean facing lanai (deck). Each bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, fresh linens, ample closet space, and has a garden or ocean view extending beyond the lush coffee covered hillside. The newly renovated bathroom also has an ocean view. A second bathroom attached to the carport/patio is perfect for showering after a day at the beach. Fresh towels for use in the house as well as beach towels are provided. Awaken to a spectacular symphony of tropical birds and wild chickens and drift off to sleep at night with the harmonious and hypnotic lullaby of the coqui frogs. Start your day with awe and wonder by watching the moonset over the ocean and the sunrise over the mountain on the east while listening to the stirring sounds of life on the land. Stargaze under an abundant canopy of glowing stars before settling down to a tranquil, deep sleep. Situated at 1300' elevation, you will appreciate the comfortable and cooling breeze streaming down the mountain in the evenings and flowing up from the ocean during the day. Experience farm living with easy access to nearby farmers' markets, grocery stores, and restaurants in Kailua-Kona (15 min), Keahou (7 min), and Captain Cook (10 min). Drive 20 minutes to swim with dolphins in Kealakekua Bay, and another 5 minutes south from there to experience wondrous sea life in one of the best snorkeling spots on the island, at Two Step in Honaunau Bay. The sacred historical City of Refuge is also located there, so plan to make a day of it by visiting the monument and snorkeling afterwards. We love to cook fresh, local, organic produce from the farmer's markets on Saturdays and Sundays. Our kitchen is well stocked with spices, and all the tools an experienced cook would like to have on hand including a Vitamix blender, Cuisinart food processor, electric hand mixer, toaster oven, air fryer, heavy bottom stainless steel pots and pans, rice cooker, electric water kettle, pour-over drip coffee system, Weber grill, grilling utensils, etc. Let us know if you would like a box of local organic produce - we arrange this for you! Pick up the most delicious fresh poke, local grass-fed beef, freshly baked butter mochi, and whatever else you might need at the KTA grocery store after your morning swim in Keahou Bay, just 7 minutes away from the house. If you prefer to get out of the house for breakfast, simply walk 10 minutes to our favorite local organic bakery and cafe, Kaya's, for organic Kona coffee, smoothies, local kombucha on tap, salads, and gluten free treats. The entire home is yours. Enjoy all 1,500 square feet, the large covered ocean facing lanai, and attached semi-outdoor bathroom, laundry (washer/dryer), and paved grounds around the house. Because we are an active farm, guests are not allowed off the paved areas of the driveway and the easement to the west (ocean) side of the lanai (deck). I will be available by text and phone. We are located in Honalo, just south of Kailua-Kona, along the western coast, in the historic Kona coffee district, bordered to the north by Holoalua and to the south by Kealakekua. Kona International Airport (KOA) is a 25 minute drive from the property. Lyft and Uber are available to and from the airport, however we recommend renting a car through one of the national car rental agencies at the airport or through Turo. Access to the ocean, grocery and larger box stores, and the island's many attractions require a vehicle. There is space to park a total of three cars in the driveway. We live on a main road so the traffic can be louder during the day. Wild chickens and pigs wander the property. We ask that you do not feed the animals as they are in harmony with nature and their environment.
